'All Ashore' Out Now
Howdy Folks!
Pickles, here, with some news that will surely change your life.
It gives us great joy to announce that our new record, All Ashore, is out today on Nonesuch Records. Our excitement is twofold: (1) to finally share this new music with you and (2) to witness this record actually seeing the light of day- In these crazy times we're trying to take nothing for granted. Civilization’s chances of making it all the way to July 20th, 2018 have seemed iffy at best since we finished recording earlier this year. It would have been such a disappointment if the Republic had fallen or if civilization itself collapsed before our new record became available. What a relief that we're all still here and that my bandmates and I have lived to take advantage of another opportunity to grovel for your listening attention and hard-earned money.
All Ashore is our 5th studio album, or 6th studio album, if you count How to Grow a Woman from the Ground, a record made by a five piece band called "Chris Thile." All Ashore, marks our first effort self-producing a record and we're quite proud of what we ended up with. A lot has changed in our lives and in the world at-large since we started making music with each other 12 years ago. All Ashore is an exploration of that change.
Our previous record, The Phosphorescent Blues, addressed the modern experience, our mutual longing for connection, and the difficulty of living in the moment when you're incessantly interrupted by digital pictures of your friend's gourmet dinner or your loved one's dog. To make a long story short, All Ashore deals with living in _this_ particular moment, in which we would give anything for distractions as innocuous as photos of your neighbor's homemade Osso Bucco, or your friend’s puppy, "Osso Bucco.” We’ll be live on our Facebook page today chatting all about it with The Bluegrass Situation. You can tune in HERE at 3PM CT.
We will celebrate the release of the record tonight and tomorrow night at one of our favorite venues in the entire world, The Ryman Auditorium. The tour continues onward as we make our way from East to West, including upcoming dates with Madison Cunningham, Andrew Bird, and a show at Red Rocks with Gillian Welch. Tickets and Big Time Friend Packages are available now.
Until then, All Ashore is now available on all of the streaming services and in the Punch Brothers official online store. The vinyl edition of All Ashore will be released on September 7th. This is sure to be another existential nail-biter, but what a better way to affirm your faith in humanity than to pre-order it now? We also have exclusive album bundles that include include our custom blend of Madcap Coffee, All Ashore socks (buy one, get one free), and tiki-inspired t-shirts (Thile is really going through a phase right now...it’s easiest to just indulge him), and pins.
Hope to see you all soon.
Best,
Punch Brothers
