"And They Will Ask: Where Were You When the Punch Brothers Invaded?" -- Huffington Post reviews live show in Interlochen, MI here: http://tinyurl.com/28xxot3
"Behind Bluegrass Harmonies, a Trapdoor That Opens to New Beats," a review of the Punch Brothers' recent show in Katonah, NY, ran in today's New York Times. Read the full review here: http://nyti.ms/cROABT.
The article, written by Jon Pareles in the Sunday Arts & Leisure section, calls Antifogmatic "...as radical as progressive bluegrass (or newgrass, or new acoustic music) can be, with chord progressions that can veer sideways at any moment, changeable meters and interludes that can hint at hoedowns or turn as contrapuntal and dissonant as chamber music." Antifogmatic Debuts at #1 on Billboard Heatseekers Chart
Friday, 25 June 2010
Howdy Friends! We would like to thank all you wonderful people who bought Antifogmatic last week. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard Heatseeker chart. Not sure what that means, but I'm pretty sure that Heatseeker is the only Billboard category that rhymes with Pete Seeger. And that alone, if you ask me, is reason to celebrate! -Pickles, aka Noam Pikelny http://bit.ly/3ENPds
"Bluegrass Modernists Punch Their Own Ticket," feature on Punch Brother, ran in today's Wall Street Journal. Writer Jim Fusilli says "Antifogmatic brims with color, wit, flash and tenderness, all conveyed with remarkable musicianship and high spirits." Read the full article here: http://tinyurl.com/2b7r5dj
The band is featured in a new profile in Pastemagazine, which says: "On Antifogmatic, the guys sound more sure of themselves, more polished, more self-aware. The warm harmonies and crisp mandolin plucks and fiddle strains on tracks like 'Alex' and 'This Is the Song (Good Luck)' ring with the resounding clarity the album’s title suggests."
